Head of FM for Man Group's Landmark HQ

Man Group is a global active investment management firm, which runs over $100bn of client capital around the world. Headquartered in London, the firm has 15 international offices and operates across multiple jurisdictions.

Following a number of unsuccessful recruitment campaigns with other recruitment agencies, Man Group approached Maxwell Stephens (along with several other agencies) to help recruit a Head of Building Management to be based at their HQ in London.

The Position

The purpose of this role is to manage Man Group’s 6 year old landmark headquarters situated on the River Thames, Riverbank House. The post holder is required to manage the Service Charge Budget, all hard and soft services as well as supporting the tenants in their occupation of the building. They also manage all building management matters for Man Group’s other properties including Landlord and Tenant, oversight of effective maintenance and review of all service charge costs.

Additionally, The candidate needed to take the role of Global Head of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) ensuring that Man Group is compliant with all regulatory requirements and follows best EHS practice in all its activities.

Some more of the specific responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

• Management and provision of all building services including security, waste management and engineering works.

• Provide support and services to the FM teams of co-occupants at Riverbank House.

• Undertake benchmarking and/or tender exercises.

• Management of Health and Safety training and appointment of first aiders.

• Assist with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and operations as required.

The Candidate

For this role we needed to find an individual with the experience and skills to effectively lead the teams at Riverbank House and elsewhere to provide excellent service. They would need to have a background in either EHS, Engineering or Contract Management in a professional corporate environment. In addition the post holder needed to be familiar with managing a service charge budget and building services in a comparable setting.

In terms of qualifications, the ideal candidate would be preferably educated to degree level with an additional Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH or higher). Working within a pressurised environment, the successful candidate would need to be able to keep a cool head and have a flexible approach. Utilising exceptional communication skills, the successful candidate to be expected to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with all key stakeholders.
